Other growing municipalities in B.C.

Langley is, in fact, ranked the fourth township in B.C.’s fastest growing municipalities after Maple Ridge (number three with 3.48 percent), Mission (number two with 3.90 percent) and Langford (that topped the list with 6.72 percent population growth). Other municipalities in B.C. that are growing considerably fast are Colwood, Nanaimo, Courtenay, Surrey, and Squamish. Many reasons are contributing to the increased population growth in Langley. People prefer it over other areas such as Surrey because of its closeness to Highway 1. That makes getting to the city for work a lot easier.

Comments from Langley’s Mayor

Talking about the popularity of Langley, its Mayor Jack Froese said that the growth rate is meeting the municipality’s growth projections. When asked whether Langley was ready for this increased influx of residents, Froese said that efforts are being made to address the needs of the population from an infrastructure perspective. He said that doors are open for developers to come in and provide the relevant infrastructure that the municipality today needs. Some residential development projects are happening to address the growing population in Langley. New buildings are coming up – ranging from single detached homes to condos and townhouses.
